One day in Fall, quite a number of years ago, a local doctor walked his dog, Queenie, on the sidewalk along our street. The dog stopped for Nature's call. My dog Sammy started barking. Even though we were inside the house, Sammy caught Queenie's scent and wanted to go outside. So I took him.
Many leaves covered the ground. The two dogs, even with their leashes in place, romped and played in the leaves.
I said to the doctor, "It's time to get out our rakes!"
Doc said, "Do you remember what I predicted last Spring?"
I said, " As I recall, it was something about the wind and leaves."
Doc said, "Yes."
I said, "There has been so much wind, lately, that we can expect a bumper crop of leaves in the Fall. While it may be hard to believe, wind produces more leaves on a tree."
Doc explained further. He said, "Trees depend on leaves to make their life-sustaining chlorophyll. If trees, for some reason, seem to be losing too many leaves, it appears that the Creator will provide more wind. Wind stimulates the growth of additional leaves."
With that thought set in mind, Doc and Queenie went their way. I crossed the street wth Sammy to talk to our neighbor who was busy raking leaves.
I said to Lee, "I don't remember ever seeing so many leaves! " He said "I don't either."
I told Lee what the doctor, in the presence of heavy winds in the Spring, and the activity of the Creator, had predicted for our Fall season: "many more leaves."
My neighbor answered, "If Doc said it, it must be so. He's a person who knows what he's talking about!"
By then, Sammy began to tug at the leash. I said, "OK, Sammy, Let's get going! You can explore and we'll both get exercise. It's wonderful to be outdoors today in the fresh air, and sun!"

DEER BROWSE FOR FOOD
In a forest in the Adirondacks, I have observed that, after deer have fed on shrubs, there has been growth activity in those shrubs.
A discussion in a college class, somehow led to the feeding habits of animals in the wild. I commented about deer I had observed and the effect of their feeding on shrubs. I said "It's wonderful how the Creator provides for the needs of His or Her created plants." I mentioned that when the deer browse off the tips of shrubs, the Creator has planned that new growth will begin.
Our teacher, a visiting professor from France, previously, had told our class that he was an atheist. He replied to my statement in which I had spoken of God's provision: "Mrs. Armour, the activity we see in bushes and trees actually, occurs naturally. When the tips of plants are eaten by deer, the growth hormone simply moves to other places!"
I didn't think until later that the teacher explained the "effect" that we could see, but did not consider the stimulus for the effect, or the Source of that wondrous process!
