Old Lady Moon
(I'm singing to my readers)
Old Lady Moon,
Your horns point to the East.
Shine shine,
be increased,
Lady Moon.
Old Lady Moon
Your horns point to the West.
Sleep, sleep, be at rest,
Lady Moon.
Old Lady Moon
Lady Moon.

I See the Moon
I see the moon
and the moon sees me.
The moon sees somebody I'd like to see.
God bless the moon
and God bless me
God bless the somebody I'd like to see.
I really think that God above
Created you for me to love.
He picked you out from all the rest
Because He knew I would love you best.

Madeleine Barnhart Manson
Today, September 26, is the birthday of my late Mother, Madeleine Barnhart Manson. An astounding thought about my Mother has come to me today.
I said this morning, "Happy birthday, Mother, wherever you are."
Almost immediately a thought about Mother, came to me. I said, "Mother, Mahlon once said to me, "Our Mother didn't go away! She is still with us!"
"Mahlon was right. Mother, you are no longer in my sight, but your presence, your teachings, your zest for life, your presence, remain close to me!
"It's wonderful that the Full moon is at hand tonight, also. You and I can celebrate your favorite activity at Full moon time.
" Every month, in Terre Haute, Indiana, divorced young people, visited you at Full moon time. You suggested that the young people might enjoy the child's play of howling at the moon. In time, and with you, the young folk found comfort and were healed of sorrow."
"I am grateful to have learned today, Mother, that you and I, in mind and spirit, "will always be in touch!"

Blue Moon
I want to acknowledge the Blue Moon, before its time has passed. As the second full moon in the month, the moon reigns
tonight as a Blue Moon. Just at this time, we have clouds, but I have looked at the moon in a clear sky for two nights now. The moon seems so serene and beautiful. As I looked at the moon, a sense of peace came over me. I longed then, and now that that same peace would come into the world and bring release from those who suffer. Peace, O peace, come to our world.
*******
Let There Be Peace
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father, family all are we.
Let me walk with my family
in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
to take each moment and
live each moment
in perfect harmony
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me.

A Full Moon Today; A Blue Moon on May 31th
Joe Rao, Space.com Skywatchng Columnist alerts us all to be on hand to welcome the Full Flower Moon at 6:09 a.m. EDT.
Rao says that "flowers are abundant everywhere" Even I have flowers. The little winter pansies my daughter planted last Fall, are blooming. They seemed to have come into bloom as soon as the snow melted.
When I was outside wth my beagle Sammy, today, a passerby, said, "I see you have dandelions in bloom. When I was a kid, my mother cooked dandelion greens for our dinner. They made a good meal."
My late Hoosier mother, with her tongue, could make a dandelion stem into a mass of curls. I have yet to meet any other person who has that talent.
Rao says that this Full Moon is also known as the Full Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon.
Rao states, also, that we will have a second Full Moon on May 31st, at 9:04 p.m. EDT. --The Blue Moon.
He writes, "The second full Moon occurring within a calendar month is usually bestowed with this title. He adds,"Although the name suggests that to have two Full Moons in a single month is a rather rare occurrence (happening just once in a...") it actually occurs about every three years on average."
It's a pleasure to have someone such as Rao, tell me and others more about our beautiful moon. I confess that I admire our Moons from afar without ever being formally introduced, or exchanging names.
The above wisdom from Rao
I've set down for others to enjoy, as well.

MOON HOWLING
My late mother, Madeleine L. Manson, in Indiana, became a celebrity, of sorts, by inviting twelve young divorced parents to come talk with her about their broken lives.
A young woman tenant in one of Mother's apartments spoke to Mother about her work. and about how discouraged she was. She worked at a Mental Health facility. For a number of weeks, the young woman had been conducting a class for twelve young divorced parents.
The class had been designed to help the students share their common broken lives and find ways to become whole again. The young people, however, had lost their trust in other people and weren't able to share their feelings.
Mother told her tenant, "Bring your group to my house and let me talk with them." (Mother's house, set way back in trees, was hard to find, so only six came at the appointed time.) Mother talked to them in a way that brought a response from the young people. With such a small group they became acquainted quite easily.
When the second group found Mother's home, they caught the spirit at hand. With Mother's quiet way of talking with them,, they began to participate also.
At the end of the time, the young people said, "This has been so enjoyable. Could we come again?"
Mother told me that she said, "My husband and I had child's play with the full moon. We would go outdoors and howl at it."
"If you want to come on the next full moon, and bring your own refreshments, serve those and clean up afterwards, then come along, and we'll howl."
Howling at the full moon and comradeship went on at my Mother's home for years. Often thirty, mostly young to mid-age people, came each month. They brought their own refreshments, served them, and cleaned up. When I came to visit, Mother laughed and said, "I make them a little clam dip once in awhile."
It wasn't long until my mother gained local fame from the moon howls. Even the town's mayor and other officials came by to say hello and to howl.
On one occasion, Mother, in a large facility, presided over a civic Moon howl to raise money for charity. 600 people attended.
Once she was patched into a national network of stations. She talked about her moon howls. She said, "My pleasure is to bring young people together to make friends.
The radio station called me that night to talk to Mother, too. She was surprised to hear me. At the end of the program, the emcee told his listeners, " Mad has a birthday coming up. She'll be 86. If any of you listeners might like to do so, send Mad a birthday card, in care of her home in Indiana. I'll give an address at the end of the program.
Mother's house is now gone. The town is reclaiming the land for a complex of low rent housing.
A year earlier, my brother Joe, and his wife Carolyn invited Mother, whose health was failing, to make her home with them. With busy lives of their own, that was most kind of Joe and Carolyn. Earlier, when Mother visited me, I invited her to come live with me. She said, "This wouldn't be home." Now Mother was with family, where, she would be safe.
In December, 1987, I went to Indiana for a visit. Mother had celebrated her birthday a few months earlier, but had much to show me. In response to the suggestion of her radio host, she had received cards and presents from people in 39 states.
Mother said once to her "moon-howlers" "There is one wonderful gift I'll have from you all. Every time you look at a full moon, there's a chance you'll remember me. Wherever I am, I'll be glad.

FULL WORM MOON March 3rd 2007
Joe Rao, a Skywatching Columnist at SPACE.com, lists the name of each month's Full moon in 2007, and the time of its fullness. The FULL WORM MOON will occur March 3 at 6:17 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Mr. Rao wrote also about the March reappearance of earthworms.
Some years, on March 1st, in my State of New York, the snow cover has lessened, the soil has softened, and robins have reappeared.
One March 1st, in my yard, there was only a slight amount of snow still on the ground. I looked out my window, and was surprised to see that a robin had returned from its wintering place. I watched the robin clear away the snow until he had an almost perfect circle of bare ground. The robin then cocked his head, this way and that. Soon I saw him strike the ground with his beak and with some effort, pull out an earthworm.
Earthworms: My Early Spring Mission
When earthworms appear, somehow they often crawl onto my tarvia driveway. I have made it a mission to move the earthworms back to the safety of the soil. Eight years ago, Larissa, at age five, helped me "save" earthworms from a school sidewalk.
Larissa, now almost 13, walks my beagle, Sammy. I wonder if once again, she will help me with my earthworm mission. I am confident she will.

Firsthand Experiences
The seasons come and go in our days. The moon is continuing its phases and will be full again on the 5th of December The new moon will interact with tides in the oceans, in rivers, and in streams. There are high tides in oceans and streams. There may be tides in us, as well, that interact with the moon. Tides advance and then recede. In between high and low tides, there is a period of flatness and inactivity in bodies of water. According to plan.
Creatures as ourselves, have silent directions that guide them to activity. Many birds, who are present in the summer, have been alerted to the changing season. They have flown from the coming harshness of winter. Some creatures' larders must be full. There seems to be little food gathering in my back yard.
Burrows must be ready for the winter. Animals wait now for an inner signal to hibernate.
Even, trees, as living entities, for all we know, may recognize the presence of changes within themselves. I wonder whether experience teaches trees, as it does us, that the cessation of sap does not signal its death, but foretells a time of diminishing activity.
Do we perceive the rhythm there is to our lives, a rhythm that every life must accept? Life's rhythm belongs to God. God's rhythm insures that life and the universe will continue. The tide can not always advance nor can any other living element. God has planned for tides to recede.
Creature life, in its wakefulness and sleep, responds, as does all of created life to the rhythm that God ordains.
