Joe Rao, a Skywatching Columnist at SPACE.com, lists the name of each month's Full moon in 2007, and the time of its fullness. The FULL WORM MOON will occur March 3 at 6:17 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Mr. Rao wrote also about the March reappearance of earthworms.
Some years, on March 1st, in my State of New York, the snow cover has lessened, the soil has softened, and robins have reappeared.
One March 1st, in my yard, there was only a slight amount of snow still on the ground. I looked out my window, and was surprised to see that a robin had returned from its wintering place. I watched the robin clear away the snow until he had an almost perfect circle of bare ground. The robin then cocked his head, this way and that. Soon I saw him strike the ground with his beak and with some effort, pull out an earthworm.
Earthworms: My Early Spring Mission
When earthworms appear, somehow they often crawl onto my tarvia driveway. I have made it a mission to move the earthworms back to the safety of the soil. Eight years ago, Larissa, at age five, helped me "save" earthworms from a school sidewalk.
Larissa, now almost 13, walks my beagle, Sammy. I wonder if once again, she will help me with my earthworm mission. I am confident she will.
