Every life, in its unfolding, will encounter dilemmas, that, at times, may seem giant-sized and fearsome. God, during the time of creation, recognized that lives, from their beginning, would face challenges. Thus God created "senses" in each life to bear life forward and to meet life's demands.
We, and every life, are provided with breath, with eyes that see, ears that hear, with a voice and speech, with lungs that breathe air in and out, with body heat. and so on. In addition, the Creator has given our heart, our lungs, our digestion, our waking and sleeping, their rhythms.
I believe that in every life, God has created as well, a "spiritual presence" to meet special needs, as those arise. Special needs are found in a newborn child, and a newborn forest creature. Both lives must develop trust in others and in a new environment. All life is guided in that endeavor.
New work, may present itself, also, as a challenge for a person. A new worker needs courage to undertake the unfamiliar. The "spiritual presence" within our life, and within all other life, provides: strength, courage, ideas or whatever is needed to help us and all life move beyond the unfamiliar and the difficult.
For us, modern folk, a “giant” we face, differs from the Goliath, the Biblical Giant that David faced. Yet, we, also, in our lives, must wrestle, at every age, with life's expectations for us. In our middle years, we face the unknown demands of older years. .Health concerns can be worrisome. Throughout life, learning how to establish and to keep relationships can be a challenge. Trees, plants, birds, and animals in their world, have their own "storms" to weather.
No matter what species, the created is, I have discovered that the Creator has provided within each life, a "spiritual presence," to guide and support it.
During a drought my maple tree sent a root under the tarvia drive to find water. The tree still thrives.
At any time, on our life's path, the giant of "fear.” may present itself. Our defense against the enemy of fear, is not the handful of “stones” that David used against Goliath, but rock-sure confidence in the Truth of God’s promise. God has said “I am with you, always.” (Matt 28:20) Our "spiritual presence" keeps that promise!
Let us be glad and give thanks that God supports every creation. "For the wonder of our lives, the wonder of our "spiritual presence", and the greater wonder of your abiding love, thank you, God."
