Life's Breath and Spiritual Good

My daughter Jean, while taking her Golden Retriever for a walk after dark, made an interesting discovery. Under a streetlight she saw (and later showed me) that as she stepped forward on the grass, angle worms (who seemed to have been feeding,) literally dove back into their holes. One might say, "What does the activity of worms have to do with spirituality?"

God, the Creator of all life, has equipped worms with the ability to interpret a happening and follow a course of action for their safety.

We humans are also guided to protect our lives. If we hear the loud crashing sound of a car, we will quickly jump aside, out of harm's way.

God is Spiritual Good, and I believe, that as with the breath of life, Spiritual Good enters each being to guide its unfolding, and for God's purpose.

It is awesome to contemplate how Spiritual good within a seed directs the seed's unfolding to become a plant, a tree, a wild creature or a human being.

My brother Mahlon Dickerson Manson III has also written about this breath of life. He has said, "At death, my breath will leave my body and become available for some other life."

I believe that, as with breath, Spiritual good is released after death to support other life.

It isn't possible, except on frosty mornings, for us, or for others, to see our breath. Yet our breath keeps us alive.

It isn't possible, either, to see God's Spirit within us, or within any creation, yet every creation, relies on and reflects God's creative power and supporting Love!
