With my life, I follow only one edict, the one that Jesus gives to us daily: Love God with our mind and heart and deeds, and Love one another as I love you."
Jesus told his disciples and tells us daily, "You are the light of the world."
What does that pronouncement ask, or even require, of us? Stars, of course, shine in the night.
We are asked to be a light for God and to push back each darkness, as it arrives--darkness that we may encounter within ourselves or within our days. Where harmony is lacking in us, or in some situation, we are called to make peace.
We are called to brighten the lives of others and our own with kindness, consideration, and soft answers to ourselves and to others.
We are called to consistently put aside every un-lovely and unleavened trait that seeks to enthrone itself within us: unkindness, unlove, lack of consideration for others, and so on.
I ask myself moment by moment, "Am I truly living in the world as a light for God? Am I, wherever I find myself, giving the gift of love and of my light, to others? Am I the servant of God's soft answer that turns away wrath?"
I am, as each of us is, God's individual light to push away every darkness.
God reigns, and is the rein in us that keeps us striving to follow a loving way in all that we do.
Because I do not know what the future holds, I pray only one prayer, and daily, "Thy will be done!"
