Once an Adult...Twice a Child

Someone has said, "As a human being, we are once a adult and twice a child. "
Author unknown.

Years ago, I took my grandson for a walk.
He was four and a half.
Suddenly he stopped.
"Look Gram, he said. "Lady bugs!"
He dropped to his knees to look at his discovery.
"I looked down and said, "You're right. They are lady bugs.
They are very nice!"

Stephen said, "No Gram,
You can't see them from up there.
You have to come down here."
I hoped after I reached the ground
and was on my knees
I could get up again.
Somehow, I did.
Stephen and I, in walks,
found pleasure.

The wonder of childhood we
can claim
at any age and just by
looking for delights.
We can note with joy, each new day
and the gift we have to be
part of it.
