Firsthand Experiences

The seasons come and go in our days. The moon is continuing its phases and will be full again on the 5th of December The new moon will interact with tides in the oceans, in rivers, and in streams. There are high tides in oceans and streams. There may be tides in us, as well, that interact with the moon. Tides advance and then recede. In between high and low tides, there is a period of flatness and inactivity in bodies of water. According to plan.

Creatures as ourselves, have silent directions that guide them to activity. Many birds, who are present in the summer, have been alerted to the changing season. They have flown from the coming harshness of winter. Some creatures' larders must be full. There seems to be little food gathering in my back yard.

Burrows must be ready for the winter. Animals wait now for an inner signal to hibernate.

Even, trees, as living entities, for all we know, may recognize the presence of changes within themselves. I wonder whether experience teaches trees, as it does us, that the cessation of sap does not signal its death, but foretells a time of diminishing activity.

Do we perceive the rhythm there is to our lives, a rhythm that every life must accept? Life's rhythm belongs to God. God's rhythm insures that life and the universe will continue. The tide can not always advance nor can any other living element. God has planned for tides to recede.

Creature life, in its wakefulness and sleep, responds, as does all of created life to the rhythm that God ordains.
