Some years years ago, I came across an article that
suggested how people might find relief from pain.
Today, I encountered my notes, again.
The article stated that in a study of pain:
63 % of people who live with pain,
found they could lessen pain,
if each time the pain came,
the person immediately wrote into a notebook:
1) "Something of good report."
2) An account of some activity they enjoy or have enjoyed."
3) Something they like to see.
4) A memory of a person they have enjoyed
5 )Other things: The people could write anything they
could think of,or could see in their surroundings that lifted them up!
As I read the list of ideas
that turned a number of minds from pain
I remembered part of a Scripture with a similar idea.
Finally brethren, (and us women, too) :
Whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue and
if there be any praise.
think on these things.
Phillipians 4:8
I'm grateful for the folks who, long ago,
developed the Concordancefor the Bible.
The Scripture above is found in Philippians 4:8.
