I have deep sense that the impulse of my life is spiritual. I feel that I am as much of a spiritual entity under God's guidance and direction, as are trees, wild plants, and even stars.
Growing is God's prerogative to initiate. When it's time, a seed wakes and begins to grow. A shoot appears, a stem grows, a bud forms, a flower unfolds, and seeds are set. Fruiting is accomplished. A flower on its own can't make itself grow or make itself a better flower. A flower can't decide not to grow.
As long as blades of grass wake
when their time comes,
and the sap in trees rises
in the spring,
as long as the seasons
keep their rhythm,
summer will arrive
with flowers,
and Fall will find
squirrels gathering
food for winter, while
birds and butterflies
migrate southward.
As long as our lovely world
continues to turn,
bringing us a new day
for activity,
and the night
for rest,
as long we find
love in our hearts,
we have the assurance
that the power of God
still holds the world
to its course,
and life will flower.
