What do I have to show for the year that has just ended? Let's see. I have managed to love and take care of my beagle, Sammy, (some naughtiness overlooked.). I have taken care of myself. I have kept in touch with others.
As to home duties: I have kept unwashed dishes from stacking up too high. I have put out my trash bin, faithfully, each week. I have recycled.
I am at peace with the world and with everyone I know, and have known. My heart holds malice toward none. Pleasant thoughts live with me and I enjoy every life that grows. While I revel in a bath, I am so glad I am not a fish. I would surely miss the solid earth that undergirds my feet,
I have adored the shade of blue the Creator chose for summer skies, and the whiteness of the dancing clouds. When the night sky is clear, I ponder about stars. I wonder how they stay their courses. When there's a full moon, my feelings take notice. In honor of my late Mother, Mad, famous for her "Moon Howl parties," I go out and howl at the moon! But not when it's raining. For years, my youngest brother Joe has told me, "Rain brings nitrogen to the soil. "Joe, if you and I stood out in the rain, we might become enriched, as you say, but dear one, we'd also be soaking wet!"
During the passing months, there may have been other things I "could have" accomplished. (I refuse to say "should have."). The Creator, in my thought, tells me that whatever we find to do in our lives, is "enough." "If more needs to be done," the Creator says, "I will nudge you to do it." And now The Creator sends an idea: "Write, to remember the good in your life!"
I am grateful for so many "delights" and for life, itself.
As I think about us traveling with the Earth on its annual trip around the sun to our Spring and Summer that lie ahead, I am filled with awe. I hope that I, and all of the people of the world, will be part of many trips yet to come!
